Car Accidents in Texas

Texas sees a high number of car accidents each year, with over 600,000 crashes reported statewide in 2022. Many of these accidents result in serious injuries or fatalities, affecting countless families. Houston, as one of the largest cities in the country, experiences a particularly high rate of traffic collisions.

Understanding the common causes of car accidents can help drivers stay alert and reduce their risk of being involved in a crash:

  • Late-Night Driving Risks – Many accidents occur in the early morning hours when visibility is low and driver fatigue is high. Drowsy driving impairs reaction times and decision-making.
  • Speeding – Driving above the speed limit is a major contributor to crashes. Higher speeds reduce a driver’s ability to react to sudden changes in traffic conditions.
  • Failure to Obey Traffic Signals – Running red lights or stop signs can result in severe T-bone or head-on collisions at intersections.
  • Poor Weather Conditions – Rain, fog, and other adverse weather conditions make roads more dangerous, increasing the risk of losing control.
  • Impaired Driving – Alcohol and drug use are significant factors in crashes, especially during nighttime hours. Even small amounts of alcohol can affect a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.
