Richmond, TX – Two Hospitalized After Four 18-Wheelers Crash on Icy US-59

Richmond, TX (January 22, 2025) – Four 18-wheelers were involved in a crash early Tuesday morning on icy roads in the northbound lanes of US-59 near Rosenberg, according to Richmond police.

The accident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. on January 21. Authorities blame poor weather conditions and black ice for triggering the multi-vehicle crash. One of the 18-wheelers flipped over, and another jack-knifed. A third 18-wheeler collided with the jack-knifed truck, while a fourth vehicle sustained additional damage.

Emergency responders transported two drivers to Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Both are expected to recover.

Debris, including some of the cargo from the damaged trucks, was scattered across the roadway, prompting officials to shut down all northbound lanes of US-59. Richmond police stated that the cleanup process would take several hours before the roadway could safely reopen.

Our thoughts are with the injured drivers, and we hope for their full recovery.

Texas Truck Accidents

Texas leads the nation in trucking accidents, with thousands of collisions reported annually involving large commercial vehicles like 18-wheelers. Poor weather conditions, such as snow and ice, can greatly increase the risk of accidents, particularly when trucks are unable to stop in time or lose control on slick roads.

Trucking accidents are often severe due to the sheer size and weight of these vehicles. Victims may suffer physical injuries, financial burdens, and emotional trauma. Additionally, road closures caused by truck accidents often disrupt traffic and commerce.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a trucking accident, seeking the assistance of an experienced Richmond truck accident attorney is critical.
