Houston, TX (November 24, 2024) – An off-duty deputy and her young daughter were tragically killed in a crash on the Katy Freeway near the 610 West Loop on Friday morning, November 22, according to the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office.
The victims were identified as Deputy Constable Katherine Hutson, 46, and her daughter. Authorities report that Hutson’s vehicle was parked on the shoulder of the freeway when it was struck from behind by a Mazda. By early afternoon, the Houston Police Department announced the arrest of Omar Jose Alvarado. Investigators believe Alvarado was impaired at the time of the crash. He is now facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
