Houston, TX (July 9, 2024) – A fatal motor vehicle accident reported in the Houston area claimed one person’s life. The incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. On Saturday evening, July 6.
Reports from the Houston Police Department indicate that a 17-year-old male driving a Jeep Cherokee failed to stop at a traffic signal while traveling on the Eastex Freeway near Tidwell Road. As a result, the Jeep crashed into a silver Toyota RAV4. The impact of the crash sent the Toyota into a light pole. The Toyota driver, identified as a 41-year-old man, was fatally injured in the accident. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The teen driver was subsequently deemed to be driving under the influence. He was taken into police custody. At this time, the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the accident.
