Rio Grande City, TX (March 10, 2024) – Three people were killed and another was injured after a crash involving a U.S. Army helicopter near the U.S.-Mexico border on Friday afternoon, March 8. The incident occurred near Rio Grande City west of McAllen at around 3 p.m. One woman and three men were on board the craft at the time of the accident.
Two soldiers and a border patrol agent were killed in the accident. Another soldier was injured. The names of the involved parties have not been released at this time. The helicopter was assigned to patrol the border as a part of Joint Task Force North.
