Steering Software Glitch Forces Nissan Infiniti Q50 Recalls
Nissan has issued a recall of some 28,000 Infiniti Q50s because of a potentially serious software problem. The company said the cars’ steering system software may experience an error when the ignition is turned on that can alter steering responsiveness and turning radius. If the vehicle does not steer as the driver anticipates, there is an increased risk of a crash, Nissan noted. Affected by the recall are:
- 2014-2016 model year Infiniti Q50s
- 2014-2016 Q50 Hybrids
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the vehicles’ Direct Adaptive Steering ECU software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by August 9, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
