(Corpus Christi) – Billy Edwards, of the Edwards Law Firm, has been sworn in as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a by-invitation-only organization dedicated to preserving the vision of equal justice for all Americans, elevating standards of civility, ethics and integrity in the legal profession, and protecting the independence of the judiciary.
Only attorneys that “display high personal character and honorable reputation” are invited to join, according to the organization.
“Our forefathers considered the right to trial by jury as critical to the preservation of American freedoms. I am honored to join ABOTA’s fight to preserve and protect the jury system as envisioned by the U.S. Constitution,” Edwards said.
Edwards has the rare distinction of being board certified in two legal specialties. He is Board Certified® in Personal Injury Trial Law and in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a designation held by fewer than 10 percent of all Texas attorneys. Certification signifies ”substantial, relevant experience in a select field of law as well as demonstrated, and tested, special competence in that area of law,” according to the organization.
He also maintains an AV® Preeminent™ rating (the highest given) in legal abilities and ethics by Martindale-Hubbell, a legal peer-review publication.
The Edwards Law Firm has won substantial verdicts and settlements for victims of defective products, 18-wheeler crashes, motorcycle crashes, auto crashes and workplace injuries. The firm is recognized nationally for its expertise in defective consumer products, defective vehicles, and defective tires.
