Fire Risk Sparks Recall of 6,000 Ford Focus, Fusion Cars
Ford is recalling nearly 6,000 Ford Focus and Ford Fusion cars with manual transmissions for potential clutch plate fracture leading to transmission fluid leakage and fire risk. Affected are:
- 2013-16 Ford Focus vehicles with 1.0-liter engines
- 2013-15 Ford Fusion vehicles with 1.6-liter engines
Ford said dealers will update Focus vehicles with software that will detect and prevent prolonged clutch slip and will evaluate the clutch for wear and replace as needed. Fusions will be updated with a new clutch assembly. Customers will not be charged for the repairs. To see if your vehicle is among those affected, go to www.safercars.gov and enter the car’s VIN number. All recalls on the vehicle, including this one, should appear.
The Edwards Law firm closely monitors manufacturer errors such as this Ford fire risk, as well as other potentially dangerous vehicle defects.
