STIHL Recalls 8,000 Battery-Powered Hedge Trimmers

Posted on in Vehicle Recalls

Power tool manufacturer STIHL has recalled some 8,000 battery-powered hedge trimmers because of a laceration risk to users. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the HSA 65 model trimmer:

  • Can operate faster than expected
  • Can continue running after the trigger is released
  • Can operate by depressing either the trigger or the front handle switch individually

This trimmer was sold June 2010 – April 2016 by various independent dealers nationwide. The recalled trimmer can be identified by “STIHL” and “HSA 65” printed on the side of the battery compartment between the trigger and the loop handle. The hedge trimmer is gray and orange, with a loop handle, removable battery, and a 20-inch hedge trimming blade. STIHL said it had received seven reports of the trigger or front handle switch not operating properly. STIHL said consumers should stop using the recalled trimmer immediately and return it to an authorized STIHL dealer for a free replacement battery-powered hedge trimmer. Questions?
