Edinburg, TX (August 2, 2024) – Emergency crews were requested at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Monday evening and claimed one person’s life. The collision ensued at around 545 p.m. on July 29.
Official reports indicate that two vehicles collided on Depot Road. Preliminary investigations determined that a red Toyota FJ Cruiser was heading southbound on Depot Road. At the same time, a maroon Ford F1 50 was traveling northbound on the same roadway. As the vehicles proceeded through the area, they collided. The impact of the crash caused the Ford to catch on fire. The driver became pinned inside the car. Authorities confirmed that the driver, 79-year-old José Luis Loredo, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, identified as a female, was transported to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg for emergency treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
