(l-r) J. Mark White, IATL President; Paula Edwards; Billy Edwards; and Joe Longley, IATL Fellow

(Corpus Christi, TX – July 30, 2018) – Billy Edwards, of the Edwards Law Firm, has been inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL), an honor limited to only 500 active trial lawyers in the United States.

The Academy selects members worldwide who have achieved a career of excellence as shown by their skills in civil, appellate or criminal trial work and as demonstrated by their integrity and professionalism. Members are often heavily involved in pro bono efforts and contribute generously of their time and resources to their local communities.

Edwards has practiced with the Edwards Law Firm, one of the oldest firms in Corpus Christi, since 1986. He is also Of Counsel with the Davis Law Firm, which has offices in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and The Rio Grande Valley.

IATL members are selected from civil practice on both the plaintiff’s and the defendant’s side of the courtroom. A comprehensive screening process identifies the most distinguished members of the trial bar by means of both peer and judicial review. The Academy was founded in 1954 and is recognized as the most prestigious organization of trial lawyers in the world.

Edwards also is among only two percent of all plaintiff’s attorneys in Texas to be Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Within the Texas legal community, Board Certification means an attorney has current, substantial, relevant experience in a select field of law as well as demonstrated and tested special competence in that area of law. He also maintains an AV Preeminent rating (the highest given) in legal abilities and ethics by Martindale-Hubbell, a legal peer-review publication.
