Authorities report that an officer was driving south on Homestead Road near Ley Road when the incident occurred. The pedestrian, described as a woman wearing a hoodie, was crossing the street when the collision happened. Police Chief Larry Satterwhite stated that the officer attempted to avoid hitting the woman but was unable to do so.
