Houston, TX (December 19, 2024) – A wrong-way crash early Thursday morning claimed the lives of two drivers on the southbound lanes of the North Freeway near Quitman. The collision occurred at approximately 2:43 a.m. on December 19.
Reports show that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it struck another car head-on, according to investigators. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have identified the driver traveling in the correct direction as a 32-year-old man heading home from work. His name has not been released. The wrong-way driver’s identity remains unknown as officials continue their investigation. The southbound lanes were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation. They have since reopened to traffic.
