San Juan, TX (December 15, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that 76-year-old Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea lost his life as a result of the fatal accident that occurred on Friday afternoon in San Juan. The collision was reported to officials at around 1:45 p.m. on December 13.
Reports from authorities show that a semi-truck tractor-trailer was traveling north on Stuart Road. As the vehicle proceeded through the area of US 18 Military Road, the driver disregarded a red flashing light with a stop sign. As a result, the truck collided with a Honda. The driver of the Honda, identified as Benavidez-Urrea, suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was injured and rushed to a local hospital. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
