Sinton, TX (May 29, 2024) – A major motor vehicle accident reported in the Sinton area left several people severely injured. The accident occurred on Monday, May 27.
Official reports indicate that a vehicle collision occurred on Texas State Highway 89 just before 10:00 a.m. The accident took place after a Ford F150 pickup truck collided with a Hyundai Elantra. Authorities arrived at the scene and located 33-year-old Salma Aktar and her young child trapped in the back seat of the vehicle. The victims were rushed to Calallen Hospital for emergency care.
The father of the child, 32-year-old Saiful Amin, was removed from the vehicle and transported to Spohn Shoreline for emergency treatment of injuries. The driver of the truck, identified as 31-year-old John Honeycutt, was also transported to Spohn Shoreline for emergency treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
