The Woodlands, TX (April 30, 2024) – The Montgomery County Constables Office is currently investigating a major motor vehicle accident that left one officer seriously injured. The collision occurred at around three p.m. on April 27.
According to official reports, Ofc. Toby McLaughlin was helping control traffic for an Ironman race in the area of Grogans Mill Road and South Millbend Drive. For unknown reasons, 50-year-old Daved Wargetz ignored traffic directions and struck the officer. Wargetz then fled the scene of the crash without stopping to render aid. The officer was seriously injured and rushed to an area hospital for emergency medical care. The police later apprehended Wargetz, and he is currently facing charges of failing to stop and render aid, causing serious bodily injury. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
