When a driver flees the scene of the accident, it can mean that injured parties are unable to get the treatment they need to achieve a full recovery. Unfortunately, Texas leads the country in hit-and-run crashes, ranking eight in the nation for these types of collisions. The number of serious hit-and-runs is increasing with each passing year, and nearly two percent of licensed drivers in the United States have been involved in a hit-and-run. There were 2,783 deadly hit-and-run crashes reported nationwide in 2021, a nearly 89.4 percent increase from 2012.
