Car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death of Texas residents. The state has not gone a day without a collision since November 2000, with hundreds of thousands of people being hurt in crashes in the state each year. Car crashes in Texas resulted in economic losses of nearly $55 billion in 2022 alone, and a car accident was reported somewhere in the state almost every 55 seconds on average. A total of 244,092 people were injured in crashes in the Lone Star State that year, with an injury collision taking place every two minutes and nine seconds on average.
